25,000 Students participate in 8th Wild Wisdom Quiz

New Delhi, 21 August 2015: The Delhi City Finals of the 8th Wild Wisdom Quiz was held today. An initiative of WWF- India, the Wild Wisdom Quiz is Asia’s largest and India’s only wildlife quiz at the national level. The quiz aims to provide students a unique opportunity to delve deeper into the wildlife of this country, build their interest towards the rich natural legacy and inspire them to work towards its conservation. Keeping in tune with United Nation’s declaration of 2015 as the ‘International Year of the Soil’, this year’s Wild Wisdom Quiz highlights the importance and conservation of soil.  The quiz tests children’s aptitude and knowledge on soil, minerals, evolution, climate change and sustainability, apart from issues of Indian wildlife and global biodiversity. The quiz has received participation from 25,000 students, pan-India so far. Role of Public Sector in Development

In a country like India, public sector has a larger role to play in the development of the country. When the public sector is transparent in its way of discharging duties and the people working in the public sector feel that they are the servants of the public, and have a feeling of serving them in the form of their duty. Country will progress and development will take place at a rapid pace. At present what we are seeing and experiencing is corrupt public sector not the system but because of the people who are working in the sector the public sector has become so. Every moment of our life we knowingly or unknowingly involve in decision making. Either for ourselves or for the ones we are concerned about. Decision making is a very important aspect of every one’s life. When decisions are to be made, there are so many aspects that need to be considered. There are some kinds of decisions that are made on a yes or no basis, should I do this or should not. This involves contemplation, and a bit of struggle. For example the ones involving Morals, should I drink alcohol or should I not. ? What if I consume alcohol? Cell Phones Should Be Banned in Schools

Yes, cell phones should be definitely banned in schools, because, there is a time to use and purpose of use, for every instrument. School going students will be such an age, that they may get easily carried away by the features and applications of cell phones (such as games, music etc), but when it comes to its real usage, they really have any need. School going students will be having knowledge and may be fascinated about the features, such as chatting, music, games, etc. But, hardly will they be aware of the disastrous effects and dangerous consequences it can pose. Moreover, their main purpose to go to school is to devote their valuable time to studies, and to educate themselves. Allowing them to use cell phones, will only distract them from their objective, and make them waste their time. So, when there is no need, and dangers and ill affects many, for the welfare and for the good of the students, it is best to ban the use of cell phones in the school. ...
