The Way to Live Life – As Kids Teach Us

Most of us the moment we become parents, we tend to become more like teachers and preachers, forgetting the fact that we are parents. We think we are entrusted with the responsibility to teach them how to live life and all the worldly matters. But the fact is that we need to learn from them how to live life and how to be happy and contended as we are.

 All we may teach them is how to earn money and to survive in the competitive world. But real things about life we need to learn from them. If you observe a child, you will learn so many things, you give him toys worth 100Rs. he is happy, you buy him chocolate worth 10Rs. it is the same.

He takes a stick in the hand and spends the whole morning playing with it doesn’t bother about toys. He is contended and can find joy in everything; he doesn’t need things and comforts to make him happy and peaceful. He is happy as he is and with what he has.


If you punish him, the next moment he forgets what you have done to him and comes back into your lap. He doesn’t hold grudges and accumulate enemies; he doesn’t have any ill feelings about any one. What is gone is gone, every moment is new for him and he lives life cherishing each moment.

We need to learn this from the child, to live life moment by moment, not spending our life bothering either of the past or of the future. This moment is life and we need to live this moment.

As parents we may teach them how to earn money and how to accumulate material things. But if there is one good that we can do to them; it is to see that, as they become old they don’t lose these valuable qualities that they have in them.
