Union Cabinet nods Land Acquisition Bill

The Union Cabinet on Thursday cleared the Land Acquisition Bill. As bill the 80 per cent of land owners consent is mandatory for acquiring their land for private projects. Similarly, 70 per cent of land owners consent is mandatory for Public-Private Partnership projects. The Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh has presided the cabinet meeting on Thursday.

This bill may help to check the violence and unrest in the country over land acquisition. Many projects have been stalled upon not completing the land acquisition for major projects in India.
