Top 10 Tips for Kids Care During Travelling in Summer
Summer is a season which kids enjoy the most, because summer time means travel time, holiday time and fun time. We elders also love to take out children during summer either on a holiday or to some of the relatives or friends place.
But when children are exposed to heat during long hours of travelling we need to take extra care so that their health is not affected because of increasing temperatures and change in diet and food intake. Here are some important tips you can follow to take care of the health of the children while traveling or when having a vacation out station.
1. When you are eating out look if the place is hygienic. Is the food stored and served in a hygienic way.
2. It is always best to use filtered and purified water.
3. Avoid taking road side food, as it leads to stomach infections. Food that is stored in unhygienic way and food that is exposed to dust and pollution, food that is cooked long hours back and reheated and served, is not at all good for health. Especially for kids so as far as possible, prefer eating in a hygienic and clean place.
4. We see lot of people eating open and cut fruits and salads on the road side. This is not at all good from the health point; avoid buying such food for the children because we really don’t know how old the fruits and salads are such food leads to stomach and other food infections.
5. Instead of cool drinks, give fresh coconut water or buttermilk to the children during travelling or otherwise.
6. Make sure that children drink lot of water and liquid intake is sufficient so that they don’t dehydrate.
7. Don’t ever be under the impression that every bottled or packaged water is safe to drink, today we find lot of companies selling mineral water, but there have been cases where people have fallen sick drinking such water. So when buying water make sure that you choose the right one.
8. It is always best to carry some oral dehydration powder or glucose powder so that in case of dehydration you may use it instantly anywhere.
9. It is also safe to carry with you some quantity of sugar and salt so that it can be given to children with water in case of diarrhea.
10. When packing clothes for children prefer cotton clothes, clothes that are comfortable and light colored ones. Also take a cap preferably white one and cooling glasses for children to avoid the effect of harmful UV rays. But if you are going to a hill station or some other place choose the clothing accordingly.
