Do We Need Multivitamins?

Multivitamins
The food that we take in today’s time, hardly has any vitamins and other essentials left in it. Because of the way the crops are grown using chemicals, storage, and the way we cook them all these things hardly make the food we take nutritious. Not only this, it is also difficult to get Fresh fruits and vegetables, so those people who are health conscious, want to substitute this lack, with supplements and multivitamins.

In the beginning people used to think that if we take a daily dose of vitamins or minerals apart from the food we take, it will help in protecting one’s health. But later on studies have shown that, multivitamins cannot protect the major functioning organs of the body such as, brain or heart, though they have been to some extent useful in reducing cataracts and cancer. Some researchers believe that it is useless to use multivitamins, while others believe it is good to do so.

In such a situation, naturally we have a question in our mind, why do we need to take multivitamins? We need to take them only when, we don’t take in a balanced diet and fresh fruits, which have all the necessary levels of proteins, vitamins and minerals that are required for the proper functioning of the body. Only in such cases or when our doctor, after identifying a particular deficit or necessity, if he advices us to take, then only we should take a supplement or multivitamin.

Consuming multivitamins or a particular supplement on our own can do harm to the body instead of good. Because we exactly don’t know how much quantity do we need to take or if at all we have a necessity to do so. So those who are concerned about their health should always consult a nutritional expert or a doctor before consuming any vitamin or mineral supplements.
